Thanksgiving! Day 1

It seems so cliche but what better way to get myself back into blogging than a daily Thankful moment!

Today I am so Thankful for my best friend in the entire world!

My amazing husband!
He never fails to make me feel like I am the center of his universe. He works so hard for us, and always encourages me to not only do what makes me happy, but to do the things I need to do to achieve my goals.

As we have been dealing with trying to get the other drivers insurance to cooperate following his accident last week, we have only had the Toyota to drive. Being a one car family is HARD. Yesterday I was so full of love and gratitude for my awesome husband when I realized he had taken his motorcycle to work and left the car home for me.  He always does awesome little things like that!

I am so blessed to be married to my best friend and I hope he feels as lucky as I do!

Happy Halloween!

From the Smurfs!

My husband is such a good sport! He smiled and went right along with it when I came home one night with a bag full of blue clothing!

I told him next year he gets to pick our costumes!

August!

August is nearly over, so I shall blog about it!

It has been a pretty busy month! - I will apologize in advance I haven't taken many pictures because 1-I'm not around darling little girls all day anymore and 2- I honestly don't know where the camera is. I had it... somewhere while we were re-organizing, but both point and shoots are now MIA and I hate taking the Cannon out and about- I'm sure they are somewhere... probably with my missing TOMS, really need to find all 3!

So August!

Was a pretty calm month until the last two weeks! The beginning of the month we pretty much just tried to stay out of the heat!!

Michael raced in the Corporate Games on GoKarts and his team took silver! Going for gold next year!
I became Primary Chorister-- so out of my element! Music not my thing, but I love the kiddos and enjoy hearing them sing so sweetly!
Michael is now in Elder's Quorum presidency.
Spent a fun day (literally entire day!) At the zoo with my favorite princesses!
Decided not to sell our house... so I bought shelves... another story ;)
School started..... and

I got a job!!!! A real grown up job! Not that being a nanny wasn't a real job, but hey now I pay taxes ;)

I'm teaching pre-school at Bright Horizons and I love it! Its sometimes exhausting and sometimes I hate that you can't just tell a bratty 2 year old to knock it odd you have to use special teacher language :P But I love it! Its a facility entirely staffed by women-- so you can imagine! This week I have worked 8-10 hour days and then spent 7 hours in school, so it has been a long week but I am so excited about all the awesome awesome awesome opportunities that this new job will bring my way! Hello beginning of my career! Good bye 'jobs'.

All in all it has been a great month, now PLEASE September bring some cooler weather I'm sick of running at 9pm!!

Goodbye Little Red, Hello Bat Mobile!

July 7- 7/7 turned out to be a very memorable day!

We decided back in May to sell my little red Aveo. My first car. She did her job, but was not designed for a harsh winter. I've been lucky the last two winters, the first I had very little driving to do and this past winter was so mild. So being safety conscious we knew she had to go.

Sadly though, two days before the wedding she got a little crunched. Big owies. We came back from Mexico and she was mended and shiny like new. It was time to sell. We posted on KSL had a few interested parties but no buyer yet.

Their was a little underlying impatience Michael had his eye on a sweet new car, we were both impatient to drive it home!

So on July 7, after a trip to the farmer's market we decided to see if we could trade in the little red Aveo.

We succeeded. Michael got his brand new (force field optional) 2013 Hyundai Sonata 2.0T LTD. It is spectacularly beautiful and nearly drives itself. Katilyn asked if it could fly- I'm not sure, if it can I haven't found that feature yet but that doesn't mean it isn't there ;)

Soy Mexico!

Our fantastic honeymoon in Playa!

We loved our resort, a quiet European adults only resort! Definitely not your typical spring break type of hotel!

They had fabulous food, gorgeous pools and ocean views.

We were rained out of spending a day in the city of Playa, but made up for it by spending a beautiful day at Xcaret.

We got very good at the Non Alcol, we even put signs in our refrigerator to only refill the Agua not the Cervesas!

We were sad to say goodbye the beautiful jungle, and worry free days but real life was waiting back home! (With 100+ degree temps!)

Bridals

Memorial weekend was supposed to be the perfect weekend for bridal photos. We had planned to shoot in Memory Grove a beautiful downtown park!

But that morning it chose to rain... and rain... and rain.

Quick scan of google to find out where we could do indoor photos, and we settled on The Joseph Smith Memorial building!

Amy Jo did a great job! It was so much fun!

I have to take time to make special mention of the bouquet. Once we realized it was going to be a rainy day I wan't sure if I would actually be taking pictures. I didn't pre-order flowers, have any hair stuff of my shoes or jewelry. I picked my dress up that morning merely half done! Everything was pinned! Once we decided to go ahead and do them, while I panicked about running back to Park City to get all my crap, Michael was super man and picked out the flowers (from Costco) and made the entire bouquet after watching a you tube video! It looked so good I sent a picture to the wedding florist letting her know that was what I wanted!

It did finally stop raining and we took some shots on temple square. Careful of the wet muddy grass!

Spring Ride

We went for our second bike ride of the year, our first one was a short one just to get everyone prepped!

This past Saturday we took a slightly longer ride. It was a gorgeous day, and very relaxing to just be out and looking at the beauty around us!

I did get a little cold near the end as we headed up the mountain! But I looked super hot in my new stylin' helmet :)

We stopped at Utah's oldest Saloon the Shooting Star for an awesome burger!

Spring is here!! (Today)

Utah weather is just plain CRAZZZZY! Day's of 70-80 degree weather, followed by snow falling from clear blue skies!

We have tried to take advantage of the few 'predictable' weather days!

One day, the girlies and I had a playdate at the zoo with some of our favorite friends, Sara and miss Avery!

It started out slightly chilly, but ended up being a beautiful day ( I even had a little bit of a farmer style sun burn!)

These girls are such cute friends! Brylee must ask me at least twice a week if she can go play with Avery!

Kaitlyn took a picture of me 'hatching!'

We are adults, and adults sleep in Airports!

Michael and I took our first trip together to visit family and friends in the Chicago area in February.

The trip started out with a heckuva lot of excitement!
We arrived in the Chicago, Midway Airport at 11:15 PM to find that the Enterprise car rental counter was closed, and had closed at 10pm. We had reserved our car through them, so we were slightly unnerved.

We checked with the 2 counters that were still opened. We had a back up reservation with Avis, but they had given our car away because as she stated "They couldn't pass up all the extra business from the Auto Show". Dang. So two reservations both proved to be unfruitful. The next counter-- Dollar Rental wanted $350.00. We weighed our options and decided in the end because it was already 1 am that we would just stay the next 5 hours in the airport and get a car when everyone re-opened at 6am.

After a few hours of cat napping and watching Castle, I waved down the Alamo shuttle driver at 5:30 and we had a car and were on the road less than an hour later. Finally getting to sleep at 8am!

Thursday, we took a tour of Notre Dame, viewed the Art Museum and had some mediocre Mexican fare for lunch.

Later Michael was able to meet my favorite friends, and the other little man in my life, Gavin.
We enjoyed an awesome dinner with friends, it was so nice to see everyone!

Friday was Bridal Shower day!
I really appreciated all the effort and love everyone put into making it a fantastic evening!! (Even though I had to make my own cupcakes!) It was so much fun and the decorations were beautiful!!

Saturday, we started our morning taking engagement pictures, with the fabulous Jason Jablonski! It was cold--- ok it was freaking freezing!! I'm a little afraid that I might have a red rudolph nose in all the pictures we get back! We started out on the beautiful (yet windy) dunes of Lake Michigan, then moved to downtown Michigan City where we found some awesome backgrounds! I only changed clothes in an alley way once-- hey its life experience ;)

After pictures, we met my parentals for lunch at a family favorite, Swing Belly's! We love their sandwiches and the awesome atmosphere!

We then continued our day by heading into the big city. Chicago. We had some debates about what to actually do once we got there. It was too late to head into a museum, only My dad was up for the crazieness of the auto show. We settled on Millenium Park for a starting point.

After watching the ice skaters and staring at the bean, we meandered around the city a bit more. We walked serveral miles and worked up an appetite :) We got our names on the list at an amazing chicago pizza place and then had about 2 hours to kill, so Hersheys, it was!

Green, be gone!!

Michael currently lives in a cute little town house. It's been the perfect home, plenty of room, HOA to take care of the little things, and not a lot of maintenance and decorating required-- well until I entered the picture.

We've decided to live here for the first few months of our marriage with goal of being in a new 'our' home by next year. Of course with the way the housing market here currently is, and the fact that there are several other town homes from his community also for sale we've decided to get a head start on the process.

The house is in great shape, and most of the rooms are painted a very neutral color. Except the kitchen!!

The kitchen was painted a sage green with and *attempted texture job. The idea behind it was great, it just didn't pan out the way it was planned. So without further ado....
I present the kitchen from start to finish:

Here is the original wall color, I call this 'Grandma Green' The green made the cabinets take on a slightly yellow tint-- and it was just not appealing!
We made a minor boo boo when we started painting, and did a red strip all the way down. Easily covered though!
Red is on! We used Gliden Duo Paint- it has the primer in with it, it's a thicker paint but goes on great and aside from a few bumpy spots only requires one coat!
Michael hard at work covering the bottom in cream
My lovely roller!

Ta Da!! IT's done and we love it!! the kitchen feels so cozy now and I love staring into from the living room!

Our Story!

According to Katie :)

At the insistence of a friend I agreed to try dating, someone different! Older was the term everyone kept throwing at me. Apparently I needed some grounding.

We talked for about a month, then I agree to actually go on a date.

I remember sitting in the parking garage in my car thinking this was absolutely the craziest thing I've ever done. I had never done the blind date thing. Eventually I got out of the car and went up to the restaurant.

We went to Ztejas, and had an awesome time, great conversation. We finally realized we had been sitting there way too long and they probably needed our table.

we went on a few more dates, and then I think the turning point for me was when we went to Lagoon. I realized hey I really like this guy. He treated me like a princess, and wasn't afraid to ride roller coasters with me! After that I decided he could meet my surrogate family.

We began to spend more time together, I think we were apart only 1-2 nights a week. Going to church together and then I met the family.

I quickly began to feel like this was the right thing, we just kind of fit, like the part of my life that had been missing.

In November we brought up the idea of getting Married. In December we unofficially became 'engaged' we were planning it, set the date (all the while keeping it from family and friends who were desperate to know)

On December 30th, we went to Eaglewood. We knew June would be a busy month so we wanted our reception location locked down early. The wedding planner and I were both giving Michael a hard time about not popping the question yet. He took it all in stride.

That night we went back to his place to make dinner. His phone rang and he was acting a little funny, he went outside to take a phone call. Odd- But came back in with a very real sounding work story. I bought it.

That night he drove me home and told me he wanted to do a photo shoot the next morning, told me to decide on colors to wear and that he would pick me up in the morning.

Saturday the 31st, I ended up being up and ready earlier than predicted so I texted him that he could come get me whenever. He said he couldn't make it before 11. Odd- he's always early for everything.

We ended up going about our saturday errands like planned, hardware store for flood lights for the photo shoot, then grocery shopping for our new years bash that night.

We got back to the house, and I promptly started doing dishes, while he went upstairs to mess with the flood lights.

He came back down a few minutes later and asked me to come help, and stop doing dishes.
I went up and started helping move the lights and asked where he wanted the couch put. He told me it was fine where it was and he needed to grab a prop.

He then walked into the bathroom, and came out with a dozen gorgeous red roses!
My brain still didn't suspect anything since I had been sold the story that he wouldn't be buying the ring until after tax returns.

I said thank you, and thought it was so sweet. He then said he had one more thing... suspicious...

A beautiful pink rose with red tips. Since obviously my favorite color is pink. He then started to talk about how unique and special the pink rose with red tips is.

Suspicions confirmed.

The he got down on one knee, and reached behind him where the ring had been sitting all along, unnoticed by me!

I cried and said yes. And everything was perfect and we are very very happy!
